Week 1 – Day 3
It is
suggested that the Occult Club look into the case of the missing antique armor of the
mythical spirit warrior Akroma, which was stolen from the museum 5 weeks ago.
An item that is very much linked to Kimi – although she does not say anything
about it.
After
school, Anya and Aoki, along with her friend Takaki ‘the street fighter’ go to
central Osaka
to fish for info. They visit one of Aoki’s contacts, a shady dealer in art. She is given the names of a few local men, sort of collectors who
would very much want that kind of mystical ancient armor.
At the same
time Kimi, Sainen and Somni go to her Shinto shrine, which is not far from the
school, to talk with the master about the armor. He tells them about the
history of it, and how it is considered magical. He does not bring up how Kimi
is connected to it.
When Aoki
calls Sainen to tell him about the names she got, he has Ed ( the computer in
his head ) run a background search on them. At the same time Ed was running a
search for any of the descendants of the original owner of the armor. Although
there were many holes in the records, the search provided a 78% accurate list
of 13 names, one of them having been reported as kidnapped a week ago.
The group
assembles for diner at a fast food restaurant and talks quietly about the case.
They plan to visit the missing woman’s apartment and get some personal object,
which can be used in a location spell. As they plot, a fellow student sitting
nearby overhears the conversation and volunteers to get what they need. ( she
is a telleporter )
Week 1 – Day 4
The Occult
Club meets before class so that Terra can perform the spell. She gets a general
sense that the woman is many miles to the east in a house near the sea, and
that she is confined but not in any immediate danger. Not a resounding success,
but its something to go on.
During
class Sainen has Ed run a search to see if any of the collectors of mystic art,
the names Aoki found, own property ‘many miles to the east’. A few do,
including a nice out of the way house on the coast.
At lunch
the group talks about going out the house and investigating. However Terra
thinks that more evidence is needed. She will tell Professor Snape of their
findings and ask him to do a spell, to confirm the theory of the missing
woman’s location. Most of the group nods and accepts the idea of being
cautious. But Anya and Sainen both want to raid the place that very night.
Week 1 - Day 5
Professor
Snape confirms that the woman is at the sea side house. He also points out that
the police will be useless; they don’t believe in magic and will not raid a
respectable business man’s home on an anonymous tip. So the matter is left to
the Occult Club.
The group
plans a late night raid. They also plan a cover story, a sleepover at Anya’s
place. Her dad, Ivan was told about the rescue mission and he offered some guns
and armor to help. But he was reluctant to lend Anya the car. In the end of
course he passed her the key.
While most
of the group drove out to the coast after midnight, Sainen and Somni got there
ahead of them ( using some ultra tech flying power armor ) Sainen had his own
plan. He did not trust that the kids were able to pull off a job like this.
With a thousand years under his belt, he had confidence in his own skills and
in the tech he was using. On the other hand his classmates were just kids, it
was likely they would screw up and maybe get hurt.
So Sainen
snuck into the house under invisibility mode, while Somni hid in the bushes
nearby ready to provide backup. Although the stealth system made him invisible
( almost impossible to see ) it did nothing to hide footprints. So the alert
was sounded when one of the guards on patrol found tracks in the garden. Of
course finding an invisible man inside a house was not easy.
Searching
the house for the missing woman took a long time, because the secret door to
the sub-basement was well hidden. Eventually Sainen found her, shot her with a
sleep dart, and smuggled her out, in a stealth cloth tarp. Mission
success.
But no
armor was found, so as Somni did first aid to see how the woman was, Sainen
went back into the house. This time he conducted a search of the upper level,
where he confronted the business man – mage – collector of mystic art. The man
was waiting for something to happen, fully dressed, relaxing in bed listening
to low volume classical music. Sainen seemed to get the drop on him, firing two
sleeping darts at the man. What should have been a clear hit turned out to be a
miss. Then the man tossed some sort of magic flash-bang. With all his senses
down, Sainen backed up in a defensive posture and stood ready for an attack.
But it never came. The mage grabbed a suitcase, containing the armor, and fled
down to the garage and off into the night.
When Sainen
regained his senses he searched the house, expecting the mage to be hiding with
a room full of guards. Only when he was sure that his target was gone, did he
depart.
The other
group members had reached the rendezvous point by about this time. Except for
Terra who had called to say that her family was not letting her out that night.
They were not surprised when Sainen and Somni showed up a few minutes late.
They were surprised when they learned that the raid had already happened and
the girl was rescued. Anya was actually very upset about Sainen going in alone;
grand standing with out the team even knowing what he was up to.
After some
debate over what to do, they agreed to drop the girl off at the small local police
station, anonymously. Then go home to Anya’s place for the planned sleep over.
Sainen however was not about to let the matter rest.
He flew
back to Osaka,
broke into the mage’s apartment, found no one there, and then went to the man’s
office building. He searched the building from top to bottom before finding the
basement “security only” room. Sainen got the suitcase and got out. He left two
guards drugged asleep and the mage sleeping normally.
As dawn was
braking he dropped off the suitcase full of ancient armor at Ivan’s gun shop.
Now the mission was done.
